As many of you know, I feel very strongly about sewing for charity when and where I can. For the past several years I have been part of the Trust Circle of Do Good Stitches. It is an amazing group to be part of and I truly love every minute of it. This month we were asked to make three Preppy the Whale blocks, pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. Elizabeth was incredibly generous and donated copies of the pattern to our group so we could make the blocks. Here are mine:
I cannot wait to see what this quilt looks like, I am certain it will be positively adorable. To see more of what our circle does you can look at our hashtag on Instagram #dgstrustcircle
Do you sew for charity? What are your favorite types of projects to sew when making things to donate?
Darling whales. So cute. I make preemie quilts for our local NICU via our guild and baby quilts for our parish’s St. Anne’s Sewdality. They are fast and cute working with nursery prints. Bless you for your corporal work of Mercy.
I joined Aspire circle last year and I love sewing blocks each month. Our guild also makes small lap quilts (36″ square) for senior services to give to wheel chair bound and other seniors. I love donating time and energy to these causes. Love whales! Our circle needs to do one with a fun block!
I have one son, 6 nephews, and two nieces. All were born healthy. I do not take this for granted. My high school friend works at my hometown’s hospital in the NICU department. I made quilts for the incubators. It’s so fun to use fabrics and patterns that don’t fit with the rest of my quilting. I’m drooling over a pink owl fabric from Urban Zoologie right now…
Very nice! I’d like to learn more about Trust Circle of Do Good Stitches – how can I find out more info?
The whale is absolutely adorable! That’s one I could probably even do. LOL I do quilt for charity, almost always for American Hero Quilts, but once a year for Hands2Help. I always love seeing your Do Good Stitches blocks. Thanks for sharing!
These Preppy whales are adorable! I sew baby quilts for our local children’s charity. Which reminds me…I have some to drop off.
The whales are adorable!!
Her whales are adorable! I try to do a community project during the winter while I’m in the south, and during the summer while I’m in the north. I give all my Quilts away to people who need a perpetual hug. I’ve only ever kept one!
Love those whales! The finished project is sure to make someone’s day a happier one!
I love making quilts, and I’m very good at making the tops…! Actually getting them quilted is a bit problematic, but I’m working on it. Most of the quilts I make go to charities, with the odd baby or wedding gift in-between.
