Sewtopia Post 3

Sorry I am a day later posting this than I wanted to be. We had some family stuff happening this week.

One of the projects I worked on at Sewtopia was finishing up a swap quilt that I started collecting blocks for over 3 years ago.  I only know that because I have a tutorial for one of the blocks on my blog (right here).  For at least 30 of the blocks here, I made blocks in return for other people.  There are 42 blocks total. Both of my Sewtopia roomies contributed blocks to this quilt.

In order to finish the quilt and make it the size I wanted, I had to make 5 extra blocks while we were at Sewtopia and one of the blocks ended up being a square of some fabric that I just love (remnant from JoAnns).

Gray/Yellow/Aqua Quilt - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI was so happy after over three years to be done that…this happened!

Gray/Yellow/Aqua Quilt - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comYup, that’s me collapsing in joy over my finish 🙂

Anne seemed to like it too when I showed it to her.

Gray/Yellow/Aqua Quilt - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThis quilt will eventually get borders and when it is finished it will live in my spare bedroom. I love the brightness and cheeriness of the colors.

I have one more finish to show off but it needs to be photographed, in the joy of Sewtopia, it somehow never got photographed.

  1. Love the colors and the quilt!!! Can’t wait for a picture of it on the bed it will be gracing!

Oh, that’s so bright and cheerful! I love the variety of designs. I don’t always like sampler quilts, but this has a nice flow to it, and the colors are great. Lucky person who gets to use your spare room! I really liked the way you did the chevron on your hexagon star, too. I had to go look at the post and then come back to see where your own was in the top. 😉

  3. It looks fabulous. Great colour scheme. Kudos for getting it all pieced.

It looks just beautiful! I especially love it when I finish a quilt flimsy that’s been under construction for so long! Great job!

What a fun sampler quilt – it’s a good thing you got it finished up. It will be gorgeous on that spare bed.

The quilt is stunning but I have to admit that it looks even better with the happy quilt maker and her quilt-loving daughter, enjoying it.
