Week 18 Goals

This week is simple, by Wednesday I want to be finished with my goal for A Lovely  Year of Finishes for April. I still need to bind, my partner hasn’t gotten back to me yet so I’m just going to use my best judgment and move forward.

Traveling Stash Giveaway

Last month I won one of the traveling stash boxes. It was fun to win, at the time I didn’t now that there were actually 6 traveling stash boxes, who knew!  I went through the box and Anne claimed a couple of sparkly pink fabrics she wanted for the quilt that she is making (yup, at 4 years old she is not only a quilter, but a designer too!!!) and I threw in a few things from my stash:

Traveling Stash Additions - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comTo be eligible to win:

  • Be an active blogger
  • Update the log in the box with your information so others know who contributed
  • Follow the rules and guidelines in the box
  • You can take as much as you like from the box, but make sure you replace it with like or similar items
  • Items should be in new or like-new condition
  • Fabric should be quilt shop quality fabrics (the box is not meant to be a dumping ground for fabrics you do not like)
  • This is a US only giveaway

If you are interested, leave me a comment below. Anne will pick a winner on Monday April 28th.

April Finishes Party – A Lovely Year of Finishes

ALYoF2014April has just flown by for me. It feels like it came in like a tornado. I have been pretty productive, a couple finishes and a couple near finishes. My goal is one of those near finishes. I will likely be waiting until the very last minute to finish because I am hoping that my swap partner will comment on a picture on Flickr. No luck yet, but I remain hopeful, if she doesn’t comment soon, I will use my best judgment and move forward!

Hexie Wall Hanging Progress - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comSince this picture was taken, I have finished the quilting and trimmed it up. All that’s left is to pick a binding and make the label.  Where do you stand? Did you finish?

Wordless Wednesday – Caption It!

I was gone last week, sorry about that. Did you miss me?

Last night I was on Instagram, as I often am, and I saw that people were posting pictures of their Olfa cutters to celebrate Olfa’s 35th Anniversary. I went ahead and posted a picture. Then I began to think about just how many cutters I have that aren’t Olfa. I took a picture of my entire collection today and it is entirely possible that I have a bit of a Rotary Cutter Problem. I need to go to RCP Anonymous!

An Easter Surprise for Anne

Last Monday I told Anne that we were going to go on a long car ride and pick something up the next day. On Tuesday afternoon I got her into the car, brought our tablet along with us for entertainment purposes and headed out for a 50 mile trek in rush hour traffic to pick up her “package”.  We got to the airport with about 15 minutes to spare before the “package’s” plane landed.  Anne saw the luggage carousels and assumed immediately her package was a bag of some sort, imagine her surprise when she saw my mom.

Nevermind…you don’t have to imagine it! I will just show you the look on her face!

Greeting Nana - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comHer surprise was her Nana! Best look of joy ever!  We spent the week running wild! We went to the Seattle Pacific Science Center, we went out for her very first grown up tea, and we drove out to Bremerton to visit family.  On Easter Sunday, she got all dolled up in the dress I made her and we had a wonderful dinner at home with my cousins and mom visiting. It was absolutely lovely!

Anne's Easter Dress - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThe dress turned out so different than I intended. I bought the wrong sized pattern (3 sizes too big) so I had to change the bodice sizing. Then I decided I didn’t like the collar so I removed that from the pattern all together. I also decided I didn’t like the skirt or the way that was assembled and I changed that too. I guess you could say I have finally become comfortable enough with clothes to do my own thing! WOOHOO!

Here is a shot of Anne with the Easter Bunny. She LOVES the Easter bunny and so do I because I get a nice picture of her once a year without her screaming bloody murder like she does with Santa!

2014 Easter Bunny - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!!
