A Lovely Year of Finishes – April Mid-Month Check In

Oh Geez! I may be in trouble this month…I haven’t even started my goal yet! I know hard to believe. The thing is, my hubs has been on vacation. We have been enjoying our time together as a family. We went to California, we worked on our fledgling garden, he organized my entire sewing room, we played with Anne. We have just been being a family. Well, vacation time is over, hubs went back to work this morning. I guess that means it is time for me to go back to work to, so to speak. Time to put some borders on this borderless quilt!

How are your goals coming along this month? I know Shanna has been on fire with her goal. Make sure you head over and check it out!

Remember this party is not mandatory, just an opportunity to show off what you have been up to and get some encouragement if you need it! Please make sure you grab a button from my side bar so everyone can participate. The party will be open until April 21st.

I have yet to even start my goal! I hope that I can get it done! I am sure you will rock yours out now that you have your naps back to sew! 🙂

Melissa, this is such a lovely quilt. You did a beautiful job making the blocks and bringing the final composition together is such an interesting and eye pleasing way! So glad you had a GREAT month of family together time…that’s the most important thing you “finished” this month!

well you deserve to spend some family time every once in a while. LOL
Can’t wait to see your border.

  5. Susan says:

You were doing exactly what you ought to have been doing. =) There’s still half a month left, plenty of time for borders.

  6. Katy says:

Go Melissa, you can do it!

  7. I actually like it very much without borders, or see it with a light border that has applique around the center – more like the quilts from the 1840s – 1850s. Not all quilts have to have borders. That center is beautiful!

In my book, and I am sure your’s too, family time is a very important daily goal 😉 Those little ones do not stay that way for long.

I am checking in. I am also changing my goal. I am working on piecing the top for a group baby quilt and need to get this done and in the mail to the quilter. If I can just get this top pieced and mailed, I will feel very accomplished. If this does not meet the requirements of the ALYOF for the month, that is okay. I live near Boston and I know families affected and I am having to adjust my goal due to my inability to focus. The table toppers I am designing and making for my daughter’s wedding reception, which was my original goal, I will make next month’s goal. Right now I need a happy project that I have made many times before … and to just keep sewing … Pat

Are there tutorials available for the blocks in this quilt? There are two that I just love .. bottom row, far left and middle.
