So I have been working feverishly on my nephew’s quilt this past week. I just added the white border to contain all the color in the quilt.

My question to you…do I need a second border? I was thinking about doing a second border in the blue this monkey is wearing.
Do you see that cute monkey with the hat on?!? That’s the blue I’m talking about.
What do you think fellow quilters and crafty people? Do I need a second border? Do I do it in this adorable blue?

All right — you're going to hate me, because I have not only a third option to present but a third option that involves more work than either of yours. I would do a very thin border in the blue you've chosen, followed by another white border. The blue will give it the punch of color you want, and the extra white will preserve the airy feeling. But don't stress — your quilt looks fantastic, and your nephew is going to love it no matter how you finish it!
I agree that your nephew is going to love it no matter what. It looks fine exactly as it is, but just as matted pictures often benefit from the punch of color in a second mat, I think a second border would also be great. elizabethdee's suggestion of a thin blue with a second white is an excellent idea. I also like the slightly lighter blue that is the background for the monkeys if you were just going to do a single wider blue border on the outside.
I am not a quilter, but I do have to say that I really like the idea of having that blue on there. It is awesome the way that it is and it is an amazing design. I know that he is going to love it!
Beautiful! I agree to add the blue border, in either the blue the monkey is wearing for a WOW! punch of color or the blue in the background for a tie it all in punch of color. I also really like the idea of the thin blue with another white.
It's great the way it is too and I'm sure it will be loved no matter how you finish the binding.

I like Elizabeths' idea of blue then white again, but just blue would look good too. Love the fabrics and bright colours you've chosen. He's a lucky boy!
